Here's an easy way to give back to
your community, only one hour is required. Help Keep Loudoun
Beautiful (KLB) bag litter in your section of the County. VDOT
orange bags, gloves, sticks and FREE TEE-SHIRTS will be
delivered to your home. Pick your own area or KLB can assign
one. Warning; this is a feel good activity and looks great on
College applications.

February 8th, 2009. Here
is some news about our local schools...
-
The ten point grading scale has
been accepted for next school year. The school board will be
announcing it officially at a meeting soon. With Fairfax also
making the change, this is in line with other districts in
Virginia. AP courses will be weighted at 1.0 beginning this
semester.
-
If you don't want those phone
calls/ emails at all hours about weather closings for schools,
you can opt out on the LCPS website. (you will still get
messages in the event of an emergency or Principal's notice, but
you won't get the 4:30 am alerts)
-
In this time of fiscal
restraint, it is important that residents understand their voice
in the community. For our schools, school employees have
accepted a freeze or reduction in their salaries to offset
school needs. All residents may contact our board of supervisors
regarding the proposed budget for the next school year. In
supporting the school board's zero based budget, supervisors
will keep the budget as it was this year with no increases and
programs will stay intact. There are also cuts being considered
at five to fifteen percent. With this much funding being removed
from the budget, residents will see substantial change in what
our schools can do for the next school year. Residents should
be prepared that many of extra programs will be strongly reduced
or disbanded with five to fifteen percent cuts. To share your
opinions you may attend any of the upcoming meetings.

WALL OVEN RECALLS
Recall has been issued for about 244,000 GE, GE Profile, GE
Monogram and Kenmore wall ovens manufactured in the United States by
GE Consumer & Industrial. They were sold at home-building and
appliance stores between October 2002 and December 2004.
The extremely high heat used for self-cleaning can escape from
the oven in certain circumstances, posing a risk of burns and fires.
The company has received 28 reports of incidents involving property
damage, but no reports of injuries.
